Treating TMJ disorder in West Haven requires a thorough examination from a member of our dental team. Using advanced dental technologies, like our CBCT scanner, we can capture hundreds of images that are compiled to create a 3D image of your head, jaw, and neck. This allows for an in-depth analysis of these areas so that we can determine how best to approach your treatment.

Two of the most common forms of TMJ care include equilibration/occlusal adjustments and customized occlusal splints.

If equilibration is recommended, it is likely because you have a misaligned bite that is causing issues with your TMJs. To remedy the problem, we can alter specific teeth so that they come in contact more fluidly with the rest of your smile, reducing the tension and pressure placed on your jaw joints.

If an occlusal splint is the preferred solution, you can expect us to have a customized oral appliance created so that you no longer grind or clench your teeth. When worn over the top row of teeth, you will find that you wake up with a more relaxed jaw as well as teeth that do not continue to sustain damage night after night.
