Preventing Tooth Extraction by Removing Infection

Tooth pain that exists deep within its structure isn’t typically the result of a lodged piece of food. Instead, it is likely that an infection has formed and penetrated the enamel and dentin layers, eventually reaching the pulp. When this happens, the only possible solution is to provide root canal treatment. Bringing proven experience and training, our emergency dentists at Clover Dental Care can remove the infection, eliminate the pain, and prevent tooth extraction in only one or two appointments. Call us to schedule an appointment for root canal treatment in Wallingford and say goodbye to your tooth pain.

What Happens During a Root Canal?

When receiving a root canal, you can expect that we will provide you with local anesthesia to effectively numb your mouth so that you feel no discomfort throughout treatment. We’ll then isolate the tooth with a dental dam so that moisture does not come into contact with it. After everything is set up, we will make a small hole in the crown of the tooth and begin to access the inner structure.

Using specialized instruments, we will clear out any bacteria and infected canals and chambers as well as remove the pulp. Once the tooth is thoroughly sanitized, we will fill it with a biocompatible material before it is sealed and topped with a customized dental crown, which will not be placed until a few weeks later.
